2008-01-13 Universo Paralello Safari on the beach, What a amazing way to welcome the new year. Reflecting the rich brazilian culture, Universo Paralello, offers from tribal and traditional brazilian northeastern music and dance to the latest underground tunes of modern electronic music. A city of tents is created under the coconut trees in the dunes of Pratigi, where 15 thousand people camp in areas spread around the 5 stages - Main Stage (Psy-Trance), Alternative (Minimal, Electro), Chill-Out (Nugrooves and Downtempo), Goa Stage (Goa-Trance) and one with live music and folkloric presentations - plus the Tribal Market and Food Areas. It was hard to not stop for an açai or fresh fruit in between one stage or another, amidst a wide variety of music amplified on massive systems. It was an incredible experience to dance on the sand, watching the ocean in a dance floor decorated with a sunken boat, relax under an tipi created with giant bambus and dry palm leafs breathing the breeze from the ocean... or dance as in the old times, goa style in the forest with sprinklers for the hottest moments. Being our 2nd live performance as Yubaba, after a successful premiere in California, at Symbioisis Gathering, it was great to play for the brasileiros, so many friendly faces dancing with the ocean in the background. If you like sun, happy people, good food and lots of electronic music, should check it out. People from all over the world attend, this being the year with the biggest number of “gringos” who are generally pleased to encounter menus in english and a very welcoming attitude. Some people even called it a ‘Trance Resort’ - right on the beach, with most of what you could want or need, from the famously clean toilets and showers to an internet shop. 2008-09 we are there again.
